Crafting a Functional and Aesthetic Set for the NAR NXT Expo

LA Set Construction had the great honor to collaborate with Starmedia Entertainment on their exhibit for the NAR NXT Expo, the largest trade show for the real estate industry. Located at the Anaheim Convention Center, this event brought together industry professionals for networking, learning, and exploring emerging trends. Our role was to create a custom set capable of supporting an LED screen, seamlessly blending functionality and design to meet the client’s vision.

Bringing the Set to Life

The set was designed as a large rectangular enclosure with a truss system integrated to support the LED screen. Cables were hidden behind the walls to create a polished and seamless appearance. The walls also featured precise cutouts to accommodate cable entry, maintaining the clean aesthetic desired by the client.

Fabrication and Installation Process

1. Wall Fabrication

Our carpentry team built the walls and doors from high-quality plywood. Any imperfections, such as misplaced nails or pre-existing cracks, were filled with spackle and sanded to achieve a smooth surface.

2. Painting the Set

After preparing the walls, we applied a layer of primer, followed by a coat of solid white paint for a clean, professional look. This ensured the set was camera-ready and visually striking at the expo.

3. Truss System Installation

To support the LED screen, we planned and installed a truss system with the following steps:

Assembly: Truss sections were connected securely and aligned using levels.
Stability: Vertical supports and cross bracing were added to ensure structural integrity.
Safety: All mounts, connections, and hardware were inspected and load-tested before adding the LED screen.

4. LED Screen Integration

The LED screen was securely mounted to the truss system. Cable management was a priority, with cables routed through hidden openings in the walls to maintain the set’s clean design.
