Crafting Two Unique Sets for Disney+

LA Set Construction had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with Disney+ on their film “Sneakerella,” a modern reimagining of the classic tale “Cinderella.” For this project, we built two intricate sets that served as the backdrop for a vibrant and dynamic sneaker display. With inspiration drawn from Cinderella’s magic, this display featured 160 unique sneakers, becoming a visual highlight of the production.

Bringing the Set to Life
‍

The two sets were meticulously crafted by our carpentry team using high-quality plywood. Each element was designed to be visually striking, with textures that enhanced the overall composition. A significant feature of the set design was the use of custom acrylic panels, which created a squared texture throughout the space. After applying the panels, our painters added a gloss finish, giving the set a sleek and radiant look.

Functional and Aesthetic Display Features

The white squares within the set were fabricated from plexiglass. These squares were designed to securely hold each sneaker in place. To enhance the visual appeal, the production team backlit the plexiglass with various colors and incorporated overhead lighting, creating a dynamic environment that reflected the playful energy of Sneakerella.

For the flooring, we installed high-gloss linoleum, chosen for its seamless blend with the rest of the set and its durability to withstand high-traffic use. The reflective nature of the linoleum complemented the gloss finish of the walls, adding depth and cohesiveness to the space.

Creating a Warm and Inviting Set

The second set featured a combination of plywood, baseboards, molding, pegboard, linoleum, and wallpaper. Once the structural elements were in place, our painters applied a mint green paint to the walls, creating a fresh and inviting ambiance. The linoleum wood flooring added warmth and balance, bringing the set together with a polished and comfortable finish.
